Loft Rooms

Located at the rooftop level of Matild Palace, the Loft Rooms provide endless views across the city through large, sloping windows. The eclectic mix of both a contemporary modern design with colorful vintage furnishings and art embodies the eye of a creative and is a nod to The Duchess’ artisan friends who used to frequent the palace.

The artistic touch

Princess Maria Klotild of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (the Duchess) was known for having so many creative friends. The Duchess allowed them to create their own distinctive style at the roof level of the palace where they could feel most at home and to get inspired by the city.

Designed as an artist’s quarter and providing an abundance of natural light and inspiration, the Loft Rooms are equipped with a mix of furniture and accessories that a modern day artist may need.

Spa-inspired bathrooms

The award-winning bathroom designs provide a new level of luxury with their bespoke cast bathtubs and rain showers. Designed as a private spa, your wet areas are clad in turquoise glass mosaic interleaved with gold – a nod to Budapest’s famous Gellért Baths. Richly veined Calacatta Oro marble to the walls, floors and vanities and bronze fittings complete the jewel-like character of their interiors.

Contemporary Flair

Essential part of the Palace is the founder’s friendship with artists and their bohemian spirits which is reflected through each detail. Hungarian artists’ artworks covering the walls and books telling more about local creativity. Upon letting the shades up, the roofscape of Budapest provides the notable backdrop for a relaxed stay for modern bohemians.
